So what is with the name, chalktalX? The Old Testament scriptures in the Bible were originally written in Hebrew; the New Testament scriptures in the Bible were written in Greek. The Greek letter X is chi. For some time now, X has been used to refer to Christ. The only letter distinguished and noteworthy in chalktalX is X - all other letters follow it; all other letters are beneath it. As X is preeminent in the name chalktalX, so may Christ be preeminent in your household, together.

chalktalX is designed to be communal.  Many instances of devotion are individualistic (which is necessary, too) reading plans; many are small groups within a church (this is important, too).  It seems there are not many methods of devotion that are communal within the household, though.  chalktalX will aid you and your household in establishing worship that is done together.  Memorizing the same Bible scripture, together; discussing and meditating on the same Bible scripture, together; praying the same Bible scripture, together.  “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Tim. 3:16) and is “...living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword” (Hebrews 4:12) - expect God Almighty to use His Word to transform you and your household.  

If you were in primary or secondary school prior to the 2000s, you may remember the privilege of being tasked to take the chalkboard erasers outside to clang them together to rid them of some chalk dust.  Around the 1990s and 2000s, some may remember the newest classroom technology hitting the market: dry erase boards and markers.  Now, we have small, hand-held computers that always seem to be within reach.  At times, they even seem to be preeminent in daily living.  That’s where the chalkboard is a key piece of chalktalX in the home.  The chalkboard represents a simpler, slower-paced life.  In an increasingly complex and fast-paced life, Christians ought to find ways to simplify and slow down.  chalktalX is one means of doing so in the household.  As you gather around the scripture with chaltalX, remove any watches, phones, tv’s, or tablets to create a few moments throughout the week to simply slow down, together.
